Review: The Body Shop – Tea Tree Face Oil

When I bought this product I wasn’t intending on reviewing it or even writing about it, but after using it I just had to write about it. Tea tree is such a powerful little oil. It’s anti-bacterial which makes it really good for people who suffer from acne. I’ve always used tea tree in my routine, it has always worked for me too. You can use it for so many different things like treating athletes foot, some forms on eczema, head lice and dandruff.

I love The Body Shop, especially now they left their parent company, L’Oreal. I love how they started to advocate for cruelty-free and vegan products. It’s no doubt that they have a huge range of vegan products. I’ve used quite a few products from The Body Shop, you can read my previous skincare post including some of my favourite The Body Shop products here, and I haven’t found one that disappoints me.

Let’s look at what this product claims to do: it helps to combat blemishes and improve the quality of your skin, reduces redness in the skin, reduces oil and mattifies the skin. These are some pretty bold claims. I have combination/oily skin and I’ve always struggled with it. I also have sensitive skin so my face gets very red with no effort. I was pretty sceptical to try this just in case it didn’t work and I wasted my money.

On the box it says: ‘after 1st use: skin feels purified, smoothed and looksIMG_7514 (2) oil-free. After 7 days: the overall appearance of skin is improved. Skin looks clearer, smoother and healthier, with no pore-clogging effect. After 4 weeks: the number of imperfections look visibly reduced. Skin appears mattified.’

I’ve been using this product for a few weeks now and let me just say: wow! I noticed a difference after one use. Honestly. My Mum even commented on how great my skin looked. If I’m not wearing makeup I have constant redness in my skin but after one use my skin was definitely less red and evener. It was amazing.

This product smells so good. I love the smell of tea tree and the scent of the drops is quite strong. Even though it is an oil, I don’t find it that oily. It doesn’t leave my skin oily, it absorbed into my skin so fast! It does make my skin seem matte and actually stay matte too.

I use it twice a day, once in the morning before my moisturiser and makeup, and once in the evening after cleansing but before moisturiser. It seems to work as a really nice primer too; it drys reasonably tacky on the skin, which I think really helps keep makeup in place.

IMG_7498 (2)I’ve also really noticed less texture in my skin. I normally have quite visible bumps on my skin. After a few days of use, there was a pretty noticeable change in the way my skin looked and actually felt, too. My makeup definitely applies better and shows fewer imperfections on my skin. Other people have noticed these changes too.

Overall, I have definitely found that The Body Shops’ tea tree face oil does exactly what it says on the box. When it runs out I am for sure going to be restocking. If you have redness, texture, oily skin or/and acne, I really suggest you go and try this product. I’m not saying I never get pimples because I will always get them when I’m due on my period, that’s a hormonal thing. But, other than that time of the month my skin is super clear and smooth. I am incredibly impressed. For £13 you get 50ml of product. It comes in a green glass bottle. The packaging is pretty simple but I really like it.

Have you ever tried this product? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments below.
