I’ve been loving a variety of things this month. Some are long time favourites and some are new things I’ve tried this month. Because I’ve never done a monthly favourites before this one will be a mixture of all time and new favourites. I wanted to include my all time favourites because I haven’t properly tested many new products/items this month. I hope you enjoy!
Lets start with beauty. During the Spring/Summer months I really don’t wear too much make up so I only really have one make up product I’ve tried recently and that is the Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define concealer in C1. I love this concealer, and I know I’m not the only one. Since the release of this concealer in January, the reviews have been incredible. So I decided I just had to try it out for myself. The fact it originally came out with 18 shades is also amazing, but the shade range has since increased to 25 shades. There is a real problem at the minute with (popular) brands bringing out a limited shade range in foundations and concealers. So a very affordable brand bring out good quality products that anyone can use is always such a plus! Did I mention it’s also vegan? So great.
My shade in this concealer is C1, because I’m so incredibly pale. I definitely wouldn’t get a shade any darker than this. It is pale enough for me but it also has the perfect undertones for my skin! They even have two shades lighter than the one I use now! I for sure think I’m going to need to test the shade below because that one look fantastic also. But for now, C1 is a really great fit for me! I really recommend. Buy here!
My second beauty product I’ve been really loving is Witch Hazel! I’ve been using Witch Hazel as a toner for ages and I’ve always loved it. I have very oily skin which is prone to spots; I find the Witch Hazel really helps reduce the amount of spots I get. My skin always feel so clean and looks so glowy after using it. I use it twice a day, once in the morning before I moisturise and then again in the even to clean any muck off my face I collected throughout the day. You can buy here.
I love The Body Shop, as you may know. So when they brought out a Charcoal Facial Soap I was so excited. I love all the benefits of charcoal for your skin and I never really got on with charcoal face scrubs or washes from other brands. But this soap is seriously good. My acne has really cleared up since I started using it. My face feels so clean after I use it. Even the redness in my skin has gone down. It is for sure a product I’m going to keep buying! The soap also comes in a paper package too which is brilliant for the environment and reducing plastic waste. 100% vegan too! Pick it up here!
Lets talk hair! Lat month my mum and I bought a shampoo bar for the first time. We’re trying to cut down on plastic so we popped in to our local Lush store and found a shampoo bar. We decided to go for Jason and the Argan Oil. It smelled like heaven! Honestly, the first time I used it I wasn’t too impressed, but the more I used it the more I loved it. I don’t think I’d ever go back to using bottled shampoo. I was sceptical about whether or not it was vegan because it contained glycerine (can be derived from animals) but I spoke to a Lush worker and they told me the glycerine they use comes from plants! Bonus. My hair is so soft and fluffy I just want to touch it all day long honestly. It contains argan oil, rose, lemon oil and geranium oil. I’s like to try the other shampoo bars from Lush and also their conditioner bars, but I’m going to use up all the products I already have first. Buy here.
Another hair product I love is Almond oil. If you’ve read my blog post about how I got my hair healthy again you’ll know how much I love it. I use it to mix in with hair masks now and then as it adds so much moisture to your hair. I also mixed it with water and aloe vera gel in a spray bottle which I spray on wet hair after I’ve washed it. I’ve found that this adds some moisture and lots of shine to my hair. My hair is in a much better condition now compared to when I first started using it in my hair care routine. Buy here.
I spent ages trying to find a vegan lip balm. Ages. Every single one I could find contained beeswax, so I wasn’t going to use that. In the end I found one in my local health food store. I never bothered looking in there at the beginning because I just assumed they wouldn’t have any, I was very wrong. Anyway, the one I found there was the Yaoh Organic Hemp Seed Oil Lip Balm. A mouthful, I know. But also a fantastic lip balm! I bought two flavours, bubblegum and spearmint. The bubblegum flavour is definitely my favourite of the two. I keep it on me at all times. It’s so moisturising and I don’t think my lips have been softer! If you’re on the hunt for a vegan lip balm I truly recommend giving this one a go! It’s the best lip balm I’ve ever used. There is a watermelon flavour I’m dying to try! Check it out here.
My final beauty product I’ve been loving is a perfume. I prefer sweet scented perfumes so Ariana Grandes perfumes are a perfect match for me. I love all the perfumes she has brought out, but my favourite is Sweet Like Candy. I bought the limited edition Red packaging, but the original packaging is a light pink with her iconic pom-pom attached to the bottle. It settles really nice on my skin and also lasts all day which is fantastic!
In mid June 5 Seconds of Summer released their third studio album – Youngblood. Now, about four years ago I was a HUGE 5SOS fan. I’ve seen them live a couple times and I had all their music, my bedroom had posters everywhere. The joys of being a teenager! Then I stopped listening to them and I didn’t particularly like their second album. Youngblood is definitely a more mature sound and some of the songs on this album are so good, I’m hooked! My favourite song on the album is Valentine. This album doesn’t sound like their other two albums, and I like that. I think their previous music was sounding samey and generic, the music on Youngblood is more raw and grown up. Check it out here!
Hayley Kiyoko. Do I need to say more? A woman who writes about loving women without sexualising lesbians and bisexual woman? I’m in love. Hayley classes herself as a ‘woman who loves women’. Constantly portraying love between two women in her music videos she is for sure a significant voice for the LGBT+ community. It’s inspiring seeing the love between two women shown on TV and online in such a positive and true way, instead of for the male gaze. Hayley Kiyoko has hit after hit that I absolutely adore, but her song ‘what I need’ featuring fellow bisexual woman Kehlani was a winner in my eyes. The video was a masterpiece and so refreshing. Seeing love shown in such a real way always makes me so happy and Hayley constantly brings that to the table with her music and career. Peep the video for what I need here. Also check out the other work from both of these awesome women!
As you know, if you read my Current Playlist blog post, The Neighbourhood are my favourite band. Ever. So when I found out front man Jesse Rutherford was releasing a solo album I was so incredibly excited. Jesse’s album ‘&’ is so dreamy and raw I can’t help but love it. I don’t think there’s anything Jesse could release that I wouldn’t go all heart-eyed-emoji over, to be honest. The song Born to be Blonde really stuck out to me because you can almost feel his struggles through the song and I love that. Listen to ‘&’ here.
How many more times can I mention how much I adore Harry Styles? It doesn’t matter, I’ll be shouting it from the roof tops until the day I die! Although Harry’s debut solo album is over a year old it’s still one of my favourite albums of all time. I loved Harry before One Direction decided to go their separate ways but nothing prepared me for how different his solo album/music would be. Pleasantly surprised and also so grateful he could finally be himself and allow his music to truly represent himself. Every song on that album hit me in a different way, and I love every single one. But the one that stands out to me most is Kiwi. It’s such a loud, different song compared to what we’re used to from Harry. It’s a rock influence that I just adore. You can definitely tell who/what influences him and his style. Check out Harry’s debut solo album here.

I decided to start watching Brooklyn-99 after EVERYONE recommended it to me. I’m so glad I listened to them. This is a near-perfect show. It’s politically appealing as well as incredibly funny. I couldn’t even tell you which character is my favourite, it’s basically everyone, to be honest. Andy Samberg is comedic genius. Although we already knew that thanks to the TV show Cuckoo, Saturday Night Live and his band The Lonely Island. I just don’t think there is any way that someone wouldn’t like this show, it’s hilarious!
Season 10 of Rupauls Drag Race has been a crazy, dramatic ride. I love Drag Race and every season brings something new to the table, which is great. A mixture of Project Runway and Americas Next Top Model Drag Queens compete to become Americas next Drag Superstar. Drag Race has had a huge amount of iconic moments, especially that unbelievable lip sync performance of Whitney Houston’s song So Emotional by Sasha Velour on the finale of season 9. Chills. It’s a show that can’t be missed and I think everyone should watch it at some point.
I hope you enjoyed my first monthly favourites post, and stick around for more!
Thanks for reading.
