Movie mondays! – candy (2006)

Candy is the one film I always recommend to people. It’s so beautiful and heart breaking at the same time. It’s for sure one of my favourite films ever! Starring the late Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish as Danny and Candy. This Australian flick follows the lives of Danny and Candy and their journey with drug abuse. It involves a lot of heart-wrenching turns and by the end of the film I was crying like a baby. Actually, I cry every time I watch it.
I don’t want to say too much about the plot of this film because I want you all to watch it and see for yourselves. But I will say that it is so eye-catching and the cinematography is bewitching. The scene above is my favourite throughout the whole film. The writing is so pleasing and beautiful. Oh it’s also based on a novel of the same name by Luke Davis.

Heath Ledger gives such a moving performance, and I believe it’s one of, if not, his best performance (it’s pretty close to his Dark Knight acting). He was one of the best actors of his time, and seriously was taken way too soon. If you know me then you know how much I love Heath. I know basically every thing about him and I’ve seen every film he’s ever been in, I own most of them. But this is definitely my favourite film featuring him. I think he was such an incredible human being. If you ever watch any interviews with Heath then you can really just see what a laid back nice person he was. I highly suggest checking out the documentary that was released in 2017 all about the life of Heath called ‘I am Heath Ledger‘. I cried basically the whole way through. I do really want to make a post going in to detail about Heath and how much he inspires me, so once I do that I’ll link it here so you can check it out, and hopefully learn more about him. I think he really deserves it.

This turned more in to a ‘love Heath Ledger’ post. Oh well, it’s worth it. But really, check this film out, you wont regret it!

Thanks for reading!
